Over 13,000 people have filed lawsuits against the Bayer-owned company Monsanto over concerns with its weed killer Roundup. They allege that the product was responsible for their being diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. And a chemical called glyphosate which is found in Roundup, might have caused this. Now you may think that if you’ve never used Roundup that this chemical’s potential harms don’t apply to you… but that’s not necessarily true. Glyphosate was introduced in 1974 and is the most heavily-used agricultural chemical in the history of the world. And Americans have used around 2 million tons of the stuff since it first came out. This is a problem because, over that time the chemical has made its way into nearly every common food found in the U.S. Glyphosate has been found in various amounts in our beer, wine, cereals, pasta, chips and even Oreos among other things. One group of scientists working for The Detox Project says that 93% of the sample group in their study tested positive for glyphosate. So if you or someone you know got cancer after being exposed to Roundup, you can help join the fight in holding Monsanto accountable.
