[Anniston, AL] – A Calhoun County, AL jury Friday awarded Tytiana Looney, 31, and her minor daughter a $2,812,000 verdict over injuries they suffered in a 2022 car crash. Represented by Morgan & Morgan attorneys Erby Fischer, Victoria Dye, Mike Bowling and Lisa Bailey, Ms. Looney declined the defense’s highest pre-trial settlement offer of $400,000 before ultimately being awarded the multi-million-dollar verdict.

On October 13, 2022, Ms. Looney was driving south on US-431 near its intersection with West Lenlock Lane in Anniston, AL when an 18-wheeler rear-ended her Toyota Camry, injuring her and her daughter. Specifically, Ms. Looney sustained an annular tear in her lower back. She has undergone extensive physical therapy and injections in an attempt to avoid undergoing invasive surgery at just 31 years old. Ms. Looney’s daughter also suffered leg injuries. In winning the verdict, the Morgan & Morgan trial team overcame the defense’s attempts to blame a third vehicle for the crash.

“Ms. Looney is an honest and hardworking woman who had her youth and pain-free life ripped away from her through no fault of her own,” said Morgan & Morgan attorneys John Morgan and Erby Fischer. “The injury she sustained in this crash makes traveling difficult and has forced her to accept a lower-paying job that requires less driving. She can no longer travel to watch her daughter compete in various sports. We’re pleased that the jury agreed with us about the impacts of this crash after reviewing all the evidence.”

This case was heard by Judge Bud Turner in the Circuit Court of Calhoun County, AL, Case No. 11-CV-2022-900504. The defense was represented by Steven F. Casey of Jones Walker.
