Recently, posting bail took on a light-hearted meaning, as Tampa Bay’s most prominent citizens – including Morgan & Morgan Attorney Adam Brum, - participated in the 5th Annual Wheelchairs 4 Kids Jail and Bail Fundraiser and became “felons” for a good cause. Participants in the April 29 Jail and Bail Fundraiser were charged with mock crimes and taken to “jail,” where bail was set by Julie and Steve Weintraub of Gold & Diamond Source in Clearwater. Family and friends were asked to become accomplices and post bail to get their participant of choice out of “jail,” with all funds going to the benefit of Wheelchairs 4 Kids, a 501(C) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping children with mobility challenges. Good fun was had by all as each participant was “sentenced” with a crime fitting their personalities and careers. Local celebrity and NFL Kicker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Martín Gramática, was found guilty of “excessive celebration.” As Morgan & Morgan’s resident “Motorcycle Lawyer,” Brum was charged with “reckless operation of a motorcycle.”

With the help of friends and family, Brum exceeded his bail, and helped Wheelchairs 4 Kids to break last year’s fundraising record: the 5th Annual Jail and Bail Fundraiser raised an outstanding $53,000 in the aid of children with mobility challenges.

Morgan & Morgan has a special connection to the goals of the 5th Annual Wheelchairs 4 Kids Jail and Bail Fundraiser. Morgan & Morgan founder John’s brother, Tim Morgan, uses a wheelchair, and Wheelchairs 4 Kids contacted him directly to ask if the firm could get involved. Attorney Brum has been a regular participant in Wheelchairs 4 Kids’ Jail and Bail fundraisers ever since.
