Putting Life Back Together — Troy
Troy was a passenger in a car when the driver fell asleep and crashed. Troy was thrown 150 feet from the car and didn’t regain consciousness for seven weeks. By the time he was conscious again, he was missing one eye and had optical nerve damage in the other. He’d suffered from a traumatic brain injury and damaged his shoulder, hips and back. His hospital bills were mounting.
Troy was an outgoing guy before his accident. He loved spending time with friends, family and his young children. He worked as an excavator operator and made a good living that allowed him to support his family.
After his accident, he was a changed man. He was more reserved — and completely unsure how he could provide for his family. He needed time to heal, but he knew that he needed to fight for compensation for his family’s sake.
Fortunately, Troy’s friends and family had reached out to Morgan & Morgan after the accident.Troy wasn’t sure exactly what to expect from a personal injury lawyer. In fact, he’d previously judged people who hired personal injury lawyers. But Morgan & Morgan changed his mind. “This whole experience certainly changed me,” he says. “[Morgan & Morgan] took a lot of weight off my shoulders to allow me some breathing room to recover my health.”

Troy’s insurance company was less than helpful — or, in Troy’s words, they were “something like the devil.” He felt like the insurance companies didn’t actually care about him and treated him like “a nobody.”
But how did Morgan & Morgan make him feel?
“The insurance company certainly made me feel like I was a number, and Morgan & Morgan made me feel like I was a person.”
Troy goes on to say that everyone he interacted with at Morgan & Morgan treated him with compassion, and his attorney still calls every few months to check in on him.
Troy’s life isn’t the same as it was before his accident, but he’s been able to start putting the pieces back together. He’s got a treatment plan for his injuries, and he’s able to support his kids, both financially and by being present in their lives. He knows he’s got a long road ahead of him, but he’s optimistic about the future.
Car accidents are unfortunately not uncommon. Afterward, those people injured in an accident can have an overwhelming amount to deal with. Personal injury is about a lot more than just financial compensation. A good personal injury firm can help its clients improve the quality of their lives. And what’s more important than that?
