FAQ

Get answers to commonly asked questions about our legal services and learn how we may assist you with your case.

  • What Is AGGA?

The AGGA, or the Anterior Growth Guidance Appliance, is a metal wire insert placed between a patient's teeth and has been advertised by dentists across the United States as being able to grow, expand, and remodel an adult's jaw without surgery. The AGGA has typically been more geared toward patients with ailments like sleep apnea and TMJ.

  • What Are the Lawsuits Claiming?

The AGGA treatment lawsuits claim the devices are unreasonably dangerous for adults and were inadequately designed and advertised as safe without any scientific backing or approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

  • Have There Been Other Lawsuits Regarding the AGGA?

The lawsuits against the creators and manufacturers of the AGGA started with the case from Boja Kragulj, who alleged in her lawsuit that instead of changing her jaw, the AGGA device pushed her teeth forward through the bone that anchors their roots in place, causing severe damage and tooth loss. Over the last three years, there have been at least 20 patients who have filed a lawsuit against the manufacturers and designers of the AGGA, including Steve Galella, D.D.S., OrthroMatrix Corp, and John’s Dental Laboratory, Inc.

  • What Injuries Have Victims Sustained from the AGGA?

Victims who have had an AGGA dental device installed in their jaw have experienced the following injuries:

    • Bone erosion
    • Broken or ruined teeth
    • Chronic pain
    • Damaged gums
    • Difficulty speaking
    • Exposed roots
    • Facial disfigurement
    • Flared teeth
    • Nerve damage
    • Loosening of teeth
    • Tooth damage
    • Tooth discoloration
    • Tooth loss
    • Uneven bite

Some patients even need to have further orthodontic surgery in order to correct the damage inflicted by the AGGA device.

  • What Other Dental Devices Are Being Investigated by the FDA?

In addition to reviewing reports of complications with AGGA, the FDA also indicates that they are evaluating other similar devices, which include the following:

    • The Anterior Remodeling Appliance (ARA)
    • The Fixed Anterior Growth Guidance Appliance (FAGGA)
    • The Fixed Anterior Remodeling Appliance (FARA)
    • The Fixed Osseo-Restoration Appliance (FORA)
    • The Osseo-Restoration Appliance (ORA)

If you or someone you know has had any of the previously mentioned dental devices installed, you may be eligible for compensation. You can connect with us here for more information regarding the AGGA case to see how we may be able to help you.

  • What Compensation Can AGGA Victims Expect?

    • Anterior maxillary teeth
    • Gum Recession
    • Facial disfigurement
