First American Data Breach Lawsuit
The New York State Department of Financial Services recently alleged that First American Title Insurance Company persistently failed to safeguard highly-sensitive customer information. This failure led to the public exposure of over 800 million customer records dating back to 2003, through which many innocent customers unknowingly had their Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, tax records, and other highly-sensitive private information leaked to the public. Data leaks are serious, and when they happen to a company the size of First American Title, it needs to be reported in a timely manner to avoid repercussions for the victims. When companies don’t act promptly, they can be held liable for the damage they cause.
If you obtained title insurance in connection with the purchase of your home from First American Title from 2003 to 2018, you may very well be a victim of this data leak. Morgan & Morgan is serving arbitration demands to hold First American Title accountable for their wrongful actions.

How Can an Attorney Help After a Data Leak?
When sensitive information gets leaked to the public, ill-intended individuals can potentially steal your identity or commit fraud in your name. These crimes can cause serious headaches, as it can take months of correspondence with your credit card provider to correct the dishonest charges. You shouldn’t have to endure the expense of fraudulent activity when there are laws to protect you from this kind of misconduct.
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, you have the right to contest any inaccurate account creation or fraudulent charges that occur under your name. However, this can prove to be difficult, and it’s recommended that you retain experienced representation to assist you in recovering what was stolen from you. Alternatively, we can try to hold First American Title responsible to pay for credit monitoring services to ensure the protection of your credit.
Can I Afford a Lawyer?
We strongly believe that everyone should be able to afford comprehensive legal counsel, especially if they’re dealing with a financially constricting situation. That’s why our team operates on a contingency—meaning it costs you nothing out-of-pocket and we’re only paid if we win your case.
Why Morgan & Morgan?

First American Title not only exposed your private information but neglected to tell you until you were already at significant risk, or never told you at all.
