  • PG&E Wildfires: A Timeline

In the past half-decade, PG&E has been linked to numerous wildfires in California, including:

    • In 2015, a major fire broke out near Sacramento after PG&E failed to maintain a tree that hit one of its power lines. Two people were killed.
    • In 2017, four fires broke out when trees struck PG&E power lines. The fires spanned more than 100,000 acres and burned more than 1,000 structures.
    • In 2018, the infamous Camp Fire became the largest blaze in California history. Tragically, 85 lives were lost.
  • What Causes California Wildfires?

Many of California’s most destructive wildfires have been linked to PG&E. In some cases, the company violated state laws. In others, they failed to take measures to make their equipment safer. In general, the company seemed to play profits over the safety of their customers.

The Camp Fire, for example, began when a live wire broke free of a tower that was about 25 years past its prime. A power failure occurred, and the Paradise region was engulfed in flames. The town was destroyed, along with the lives of dozens of victims and their families.

As a utility company, PG&E must be held to the highest standard when it comes to safety. If you or a loved one has fallen victim to a fire caused by PG&E’s negligence, contact Morgan & Morgan’s wildfire attorneys, as you may be entitled to significant compensation.

  • What to Do After a Wildfire

If you suffer an injury or property damage in a wildfire, it’s critical that you take the following few steps to protect your rights:

    • Document everything, including medical records and exchanges with the insurance company.
    • Take inventory of all items that were lost or damaged in the fire.
    • Contact a Morgan & Morgan attorney as soon as possible, as these cases are time-sensitive.
  • Contact a California Wildfire Lawyer

As you may know, claim adjusters sometimes act in bad faith. They may delay or deny a wildfire insurance claim, offer a lowball settlement, manipulate their findings, or even misrepresent your coverage. That’s why it’s essential that you contact a wildfire attorney right away. You may be able to recover compensation for past and future medical bills, property damage, lost wages, diminished earning capacity, emotional distress, and more.

If you or a loved one were injured or lost property in a California wildfire, contact our firm to find out if you are owed money by PG&E. Our lawyers work on a contingency fee basis, so there’s no cost to get started, and we get paid only if you win. Schedule a free, no-obligation case evaluation now.
