Infant Loungers Suffocation Hazard

When you purchase a product intended to be used by your baby, you expect to receive top-quality goods that would never place your child in harm’s way. Unfortunately, many parents choose to purchase an infant lounger for their child without realizing the potential hazard they can cause.

While the infant loungers look like the ideal product for parents to purchase for their children, recent infant death reports suggest otherwise. Since these reports were made public, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has been warning the American public to immediately stop all use of the infant loungers manufactured by Leachco due to health and safety concerns after two infants suffocated to death while using their Podster lounger.

The CPSC has recommended for the last couple of decades that the only position that babies should sleep in is on their backs on a firm, flat surface. The issue with the infant loungers is that they do not allow babies to lay flat; instead, placing them in an inclined or upright position. Infant babies do not have strong neck and arms muscles to turn themselves over in the event that they are stuck against the lounger surface and are unable to breathe.
