YETI® Soft Cooler and Gear Case Recall

In cooperation with Health Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), YETI® has voluntarily recalled the Hopper M20 Soft Backpack, Hopper M30 Soft Cooler versions 1.0 and 2.0, and the SideKick Dry Gear Case. The recalled products come with magnet-lined enclosures that can fail to release the magnets. In the case that these magnets are ingested, it could pose a severe risk of injury or death.

While there have been no reports of magnet ingestion or related injuries yet, YETI® has received nearly 1,400 reports of the magnet-lined closures failing or deteriorating over time, including reports that the magnets inside the closures have either detached or gone missing entirely.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, when an individual swallows two or more high-powered magnets while in your system, they can attract towards one another or to another metal object and become lodged in your digestive system. Once stuck, they can cause holes, create twisting and cause blockage of your intestines. Other issues caused by ingested magnets include infection, blood poisoning, and even death.

As previously mentioned, on March 9, 2023, roughly 1.9 million YETI® products have been recalled due to a magnet ingestion hazard. The defective products were sold nationwide from March 2018 to January 2023 at retail stores like Dick's Sporting Goods, ACE Hardware, Academy Sports + Outdoors, and YETI®. The products were also available for purchase online on YETI's® website and Amazon.

In order to submit a claim for your recalled YETI® products, you'll need to visit yeti.com for complete instructions on returning the product. Once you have completed the recall form, you should be able to return your defective product free of charge. YETI® is also offering for you to receive a suggested replacement product of equal or greater value. YETI® is also offering its customers a full refund through a YETI® gift card. Along with the refund, they are offering an additional $25.
