The Week in Recalls: November 10, 2023
The following product recalls have been announced this week—make sure you’re in the know.
2024 Subaru Forester Compact SUVs
Subaru of America and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have announced a recall of certain 2024 Forester compact SUVs are being recalled due to insufficiently tightened engine water pipe attachment bolts. A loose attachment bolt may result in the water pipe losing its seal, which could cause coolant to leak and contact a hot exhaust pipe, increasing the fire risk.
Exela Sodium Bicarbonate Injectable
Exela recalled several lots of Exela and Civica sodium bicarbonate injections and Midazolam and ELCYS cysteine hydrochloride injections, as the injections were found to contain silicone particulate matter. Injecting solutions containing particulate matter may result in local irritation or swelling or can block blood vessels in the heart, lungs, or brain.
Cruise Driverless Cars
General Motors-owned Cruise recalled 950 of its driverless cars after a vehicle failed to detect a pedestrian pinned underneath and dragged her for about 20 feet, causing serious injuries.
Polaris 2023 RANGER XP 1000 NorthStar and XP 1000 NorthStar Crew Vehicles
Polaris has issued a recall of its 2023 RANGER XP 1000 NorthStar and XP 1000 NorthStar Crew off-road vehicles due to an improperly installed center brake line. The manufacturing error can cause the rear brake circuit to remain pressurized during operation, resulting in overheated brakes and reduced braking performance, posing fire and crash hazards.
E-Z-GO PTV and Tracker OX EV Vehicles
Textron Specialized Vehicles recalled their electric-powered E-Z-GO ELiTE Express L6, EliTE Express S6 PTV, and Tracker OX EV vehicles due to a crash hazard. The vehicle’s internal motor wiring can become damaged over time. Under certain conditions, this issue can cause the vehicle to move unintentionally.
Honda 2023–2024 Pilot SUVs
Honda is recalling 519 of its 2023–2024 Pilot SUVs over an issue that could affect steering. The issue involves a loose ball bearing that may have fallen into the gap of a rotating part in the steering gearbox assembly during manufacturing. If this occurs, the steering function may be lost, resulting in an increased risk of a crash or injury.
