Want to Donate Toys in Jackson? We're Here to Help
Some children in Jackson miss out on Christmas. The holidays without loved ones might mean less cheer, but there are many ways you can support children during the season, like donating toys.
Toys brighten the days of children, and are a great gift to give during the holiday season. Below are some organizations that are accepting donations, and where and how you can help brighten the season for those who need it most.
How You Can Help
Many organizations seek donations year-round and have drop offs in Jackson where you can give to those in need.
Some toy providers are national, and work year-round. One of the most well-known programs is Toys for Tots. Toys for Tots partners with Toys “R” Us to provide gifts to children in need during the Christmas season.
One of Jackson’s providers is the Salvation Army. You can help them out by donating toys, but giving to children doesn’t have to end there. You can sort and distribute gifts through their Angel Tree program, too.
Other organizations like the Good Samaritan Center give toys to qualifying families. Some companies around the area might advertise a drop off location for toys as well. Be on the lookout for these Jackson seasonal staples.
Where You Can Donate
The Toys “R” Us stores in Jackson will be collecting toy donations until Dec. 7, or taking money through Christmas Eve to assist Toys for Tots.
The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program has several drop off locations — like their administrative building at 110 Presto Lane — around the city where you can donate toys or your time. The Good Samaritan Center also accept donations at their Jackson offices.
Many other charities devote some of their resources to collecting toys for children in need during the holidays. Check with one you’re affiliated with and see if they collect or who they can suggest.
Mississippi Children’s Home Services Is a Great Option
Mississippi Children’s Home Services (now known as Canopy Children’s Solutions) is an organization that provides many resources dedicated to helping children, ranging from adoption and foster care to behavioral therapy and education. The organization collects its own toys, but they need help stuffing stockings, finding holiday drive sponsors, and granting children’s holiday wishes, too.
Even better, this Thursday Canopy, along with our firm and the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office, will be hosting an event committed to being For The Children. The toy drive and fundraiser, co-hosted with the sheriff's office, will take place on Thursday, Nov. 17, at Hal & Mal’s downtown from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. You can bring $10 or an unwrapped toy as cover, and help deliver some Christmas cheer to children in a much-needed way. ‘Tis the season!
