Pittsburgh Woman Injured in Fall From Burning Building
A Pittsburgh woman fell out of a second-story window in an escape from a fire in the Greenfield section of the city Dec. 16, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. The 29-year-old woman fell onto the hood of a dump truck on Flemington Street and suffered mild to moderate lacerations, Pittsburgh Public Safety Director Wendell Hissrich said. Crews were called to the fire around 6:50 a.m.
The first floor of the building is commercial, while the second floor is residential. One of the two tenants of the commercial units is the transgender advocacy group SisTers PGH. The other unit is vacant. The second floor houses two apartments. Although Hissrich said the fire was contained to the upper floor of the building, SisTers PGH has shut down the location until further notice. The organization announced on Twitter that it has raised over $4,000 to move to a new space.
A fire is a devastating tragedy. Victims of blazes risk bodily harm, loss of valuables, and temporary homelessness. In the aftermath of a fire, investigators will look to find its cause. Depending on the outcome of the investigation, you may be entitled to compensation for damages related to the incident. The insurance companies, which usually end up responsible for paying out these damages, will often battle tooth and nail to deny you every penny they can. Fighting back against their legal trickery can be difficult, and without a lawyer, you could be missing out on two-thirds of what you might be able to recover otherwise. At Morgan & Morgan, we have [ftp_global_var:years] years of experience going up against the insurance companies to get our clients what they deserve. Let us fight for you.
