John Vaught is a 1994 graduate of Vanderbilt University, where he earned degrees in history and political science. He earned his Juris Doctor in 1997 from the Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law and moved immediately to Savannah. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and is active in a number of local, state, and national bar organizations.  He is past President of the Savannah Trial Lawyer's Association, which, during his tenure, earned GTLA's award for Trial Lawyer Association of the Year.

John has been consistently recognized as one of the very best litigators in the country. He has been rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell and has enjoyed recognition by the Wall Street Journal and Atlanta Magazine as one of the top litigators in the State of Georgia. He has been named to Georgia’s “Legal Elite,”, “Who’s Who,” and selected for inclusion in America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators.

Early in his career, John was named a Rising Star by Atlanta Magazine, and he has been recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine every year since 2009. The National Trial Lawyers voted him one of the “Best 40 under 40” trial lawyers in 2011 and have continued to recognize John as one of the top 100 litigators in Georgia since 2012.

John is frequently invited to lecture on various litigation topics, including tractor-trailer and motor carrier liability, medical malpractice, wrongful death, and the representation of injured children.
