Biography Overview
An experienced and widely respected litigator for nearly 25 years, Jerry Smith was proud to join the Pensacola Office of Morgan and Morgan as a Litigation Attorney in 2024. Originally from the New Orleans area, Mr. Smith graduated from University of Mississippi with a Bachelors in Business Administration in 1996 and earned his law degree from Louisiana State University in 2000. He is admitted to practice law in both Florida and Louisiana.
Mr. Smith has conducted over 100 jury trials over the course of his career, along with countless judge trials, motion hearings, depositions, and mediations. His work ethic, extensive mastery of the law, and comfort in the courtroom have earned him his reputation as a top litigator. In addition to practicing law, he served as an Associate Professor at Tulane University School of Law, instructing 2nd and 3rd year law students on case preparation and presentation, courtroom demeanor, and legal ethics from 2014 to 2020. He has been frequently consulted and featured as an On-Air legal commentator for WDSU TV and served as one of Louisiana's Advisory Committee Members on the United States Commission on Civil Rights from 2022 to 2024.
Outside of the courtroom, Mr. Smith dedicates his time to giving back to the community. As a founder and past president of team "Swineaux," a Barbeque competition team competing annually at "Hogs for the Cause", his team alone has raised over $120,000 to support families battling pediatric brain cancer. Mr. Smith also served as a Fundraising Committee Member for 7 years for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's annual Leukemia Cup Regatta.
A married father of two young boys, ages 9 and 6, Mr. Smith is a highly skilled and staunch advocate for his clients. He attributes the success of his extensive legal career to his dedication to providing his clients with superior counsel, advocacy, and litigation, inside and outside the courtroom.
