Biography Overview
Brian Rodgers grew up in the Daytona Beach where he lived most of his life before moving to Gainesville to attend law school. Prior to completing his formal education, Brian was a skilled carpenter and a superintendent on construction sites across the country. Brian attended the University of Central Florida in Orlando where he earned his bachelor’s degree in political science with Honors in the Major in 2008. He was named the Bledsoe-Young Award winner for most outstanding graduating senior in the Political Science Department. He then attended the University of Florida in Gainesville where he earned his law degree with honors in 2011. During law school, Brian was an editor of the Journal of Law and Public Policy. He had the opportunity to be exposed to a wide variety of legal practice areas through an externship at the Brevard County Attorney’s Office, a summer associate position with a large firm in Orlando, and a certified legal internship with the State Attorney’s Office in Gainesville.
After law school, Brian became an Assistant State Attorney at the State Attorney’s Office in Gainesville where he quickly ascended from intake to misdemeanor domestic violence, and then to the felony Special Victims Unit. As an SVU prosecutor, Brian prosecuted and tried cases involving homicide, domestic violence, child abuse, sexual violence, and technological exploitation of children. He was also in charge of the Sexually Violent Predator Program for the Eighth Judicial Circuit of Florida. Ultimately, Brian was promoted to and proud to serve as the Division Chief of the SVU where he supervised a team of high quality SVU attorneys. In his time at the State Attorney’s Office, Brian handled countless motion hearings and tried well over a hundred cases to verdict before juries.
Brian has also had the pleasure of working at a full-service law firm in Lake City. Florida where he represented clients in a variety of legal matters in areas including contracts, landlord-tenant disputes, banking, construction, business, real estate, personal injury, and criminal defense. Throughout his career, Brian has presented trainings and presentations dozens of times on a variety of litigation topics to assist young and experienced attorneys alike improve their trial skills. He is Board Certified by the Florida Bar in Criminal Trial Law and aspires to be one of the few attorneys in Florida who have achieved that honor in both Criminal and Civil Trial Law.
Brian lives in Gainesville with his wife, who is a fellow trial lawyer, and their amazing daughter. He is bonus dad to two other incredible daughters who both work as educators. Brian enjoys traveling with his family, taking his wife on date nights, and loving all things related to Florida Gators and Jacksonville Jaguars football. Brian is proud to bring his expert trial skills and well-rounded life experience to bear to represent clients who have been injured by the carelessness and negligence of others.
