Meet Jo-Ellen Levy
Jo-Ellen Levy works in Morgan & Morgan’s First Party Insurance Litigation practice group where she represents insureds and beneficiaries in administrative appeals and in lawsuits against insurance companies who deny valid life, accidental death and dismemberment, critical illness, health and long term disability insurance claims that are governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (""ERISA"") as well as state law.
Prior to joining Morgan & Morgan in 2020, Ms. Levy represented healthcare providers in their administrative appeals against insurance companies who denied payment of billed charges for preauthorized surgeries pursuant to policies governed by ERISA and state law.
Ms. Levy also served as a law clerk to a senior appellate judge in New Jersey. She served as a summer law clerk to a federal district judge in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania while attending law school at Rutgers University School of Law. Prior to earning her JD from Rutgers, Ms. Levy served as an editor of law review and published an article on state constitutional law. Ms. Levy holds a Bachelors degree in Foreign Affairs from the George Washington University where she played both singles and doubles on the women's Division 1 tennis team.
